AVATAR OR AMSAVATAR YOGA
There are three conditions for the yoga or planetary combination which describes such an individual. First, the Ascendant must be in a Cardinal sign. The yoga is effective whether the Ascendant is Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn, but in actual practice, the ascending sign will reveal a great deal about the specific mission of the incarnating soul.With Aries as the Ascendant, the soul is struggling to begin something new in the world, which can imply changing the course of human thinking and lifestyle. Such persons will be heralds of new ideas, new Utopias, and philosophies.
When Cancer is the Ascendant, the individual will function like a mighty ocean; diverse kinds of people will come to him with their woes and sorrows, problems and confusion, and the person will enlighten them and assuage their sorrows.
Libra ushers in a soul which is externally very quiet and balanced, but which inwardly shoulders the problems and pressures of the world. Such persons will suffer for others but will provide some kind of peace and harmony to the world and society in which they live.
Individuals born under Capricorn have the potential to reach great heights; such a person may be born to relinquish completely his personal life in order to realize universal feelings and emotions. When an individual is ready for self-regeneration at a higher level of existence, he is born under Capricorn Ascendant.
For Avatar or Amsavatar Yoga, the first condition is that the individual must be born with a Cardinal sign rising.
Second, Jupiter and Venus must be in a quadrant, i.e., in one of the Cardinal houses. This condition, as will be clearly seen, is a reflection of the spirituality of the soul.
When Jupiter is angular, it will powerfully influence the individual as well as his involvement in the external world. A kind of altruism, philanthropy and deep Insight into ancient wisdom will be ingrained in him. Such an attitude results from maturity acquired in previous lives.
With Venus in one of these houses, one does not incline towards indulging in the base or material aspects of life; rather, one possesses a highly sensitive consciousness which is electrical in its operation and swift in understanding the feelings and emotions of others. Jupiter and Venus in the quadrants by themselves are sufficient to raise the evolutionary level of a person.
Third, Saturn must be exalted (i.e., in Libra). The exaltation of Saturn is fairly uncommon and occurs only for a period of two years during the twenty-nine-year orbit of the planet around the zodiac.
An exalted Saturn produces a seer whose sight transcends the known and the living. It encourages tremendous spiritual powers. In personal life it may create hardship and deprivation, but detachment, magic powers, control over the invisible forces of Nature, and the strength to face the annihilation of the ego are some of the features of an exalted Saturn in the Cardinal houses.
The individual whose horoscope contains all these elements will have profound wisdom and be learned in ancient traditions. His personal life will be spotless and people will gather around him, providing the temptation for his ego to become infatuated. He will wander far and wide, meet many learned persons and establish religious movements which give solace to many people. He will have a large following, and much power at his command. He will be able to shape the destiny of the society in which he lives and the people who surround him. Such a destiny may seem very attractive, but individuals with this yoga are not necessarily happy in their personal lives; often they have to undergo many hardships. Their longevity may not be exceptional. This yoga indicates an extremely special person, but the price one has to pay for his gifts may be very high.
