Om Sham Shanaischaryaye Namah

1. Start Shani Puja by washing the feet of Lord Shani’s idol
2. Consume this water as charanamrit
3. Decorate Shani idol using black clothes
4. Offer black color items such as sesame, sesame oil, black clothes and black gram to Lord Shani
5. Light up the diyas using sesame or mustard oil
6. Donate black Til (sesame) or rice to the needy people
7. Sing Shani dev’s aarti and chant 108 names of Shani dev
8. On Shani Jayanti, worship Shani’s idol by bathing it with gangajal, panchamrut, oil and water.
9. Observe fast from sunrise to sunset and take only one meal after performing the puja in the evening.
10. Visit Shani temple. Offer black sesame seeds, sesame oil, and black cloth. Black is assumed to be the favorite color of the lord as the idol is always black.
11. Chant Shani stotra and ‘Om Sham Shaneshchraya Namah’ (11 malas).
